The current situation

Frontline workers generally perform tasks requiring manual labor such as in manufacturing, construction or logistics. Such activities may require shift work and overtime. Therefore, the employee experience poses some challenges specific to frontline workers, such as the possibility to digitally plan their shifts and manage their time.

To create a positive employee experience for frontline workers, employers must understand and respond to the needs and challenges of this group of employees. Many of their user interfaces are complex and lead to worse and more inefficient outcomes. The complexity creates challenges even for preparing team schedules, and this can lead to errors in planning. Routine tasks such as time recording, attendance management or creating team schedules then become very time-consuming. In Microsoft Teams, the Shifts App can be integrated with your workforce management system from UKG. Your employees can use Shifts or the UKG App to seamlessly view and manage their schedules in their WFM system. This allows frontline workers to manage their own working hours (within the framework of legal or collective agreements etc.). It also ensures compliance at all times, because conventional communication media such as WhatsApp are no longer required. KPMG can provide support for design, planning and implementation.
